In 2018 we tasked the local community around our newest development, Berkshire House, with capturing the feel of the local area through photography. The aim was to utilise local talent to source art for our new building, and we achieved this through launching #CaptureBerkshire, a social media photography competition.
The competition was a huge success and we received well over 400 entries. We had dozens of fantastic shots for our judges to sort through; from mesmerizing sunsets and rural scenes to urban shots from around Maidenhead.
After narrowing the list down, the well-deserving winners were Colin Roberts and 14-year-old student, Kuba Hryniewicki. Both were awarded a £500 prize in photography vouchers to further their photographic careers, as well as a further £500 worth of vouchers going to the art department at Kuba’s school.
In fact, as their work was so impressive, they actually had 20 of their shots hung within Berkshire House – walking away with a few hundred pounds more in vouchers.
“I entered this competition to share my creative talent of photography with other people in my local area. It inspired me to share how I see Berkshire through my lens. Winning first place has unlocked the possibility of me upgrading my current DSLR camera to a more professional one and further develop my photography skills and creativity through the art of photography."
